Roland & Gergő grew up behind the Iron Curtain, but even then, they were captivated by the worlds of American and Japanese culture — video games, animated TV shows, and anime. For Roland, it was all about arcade machines, while Gergő had his beloved Commodore computer. These early experiences laid the foundation for their future passion for craftsmanship, quality, and visual details in gaming. Years later, they met while working at the same creative agency as digital designers. Their professional paths crossed, but it was their shared love for design and retro gaming that deepened their friendship. Over time, their careers took them in different directions, but their appreciation for well-crafted, visually stunning games stayed with them. Roland, always a collector at heart, started gathering old comic books, consoles, and CRT TVs. He joined the retro gaming movement, trying to recapture the feeling of playing on those original machines. He tinkered with platforms like Batocera, but no matter what he tried, something was always missing. The display never felt quite right. That’s when Roland, as a visual designer, began to think: what if he could create the perfect display for retro gaming?

At the same time, Gergő had just successfully exited his previous venture and was ready for a new challenge. Wanting to reconnect with friends on a professional level, he and Roland started discussing their shared vision for the ultimate retro gaming experience. They weren’t just chasing nostalgia—they wanted to elevate the experience for today’s gamers, combining the best of the past with modern innovations. And so, they created Ganso, the brand they wished existed now—something that could bring back the magic of those old games but with modern technology to make the experience even better. It’s about respecting the original while enhancing it for today. For people in their 30s and 40s, who grew up during the golden age of gaming, Ganso is a way to reconnect with their past and share those moments with their kids.
